Plai Essential Oil
Closely related to Ginger, Plai Essential Oil is a favorite for helping ease discomfort and support clear airways. Its aroma is more reminiscent of Eucalyptus than Ginger at first sniff, but notes of Ginger and Pepper pull through to create an incredibly complex and spicy scent.
Plai is cultivated in Thailand and has been used in the traditional medicine systems throughout much of Southeast Asia. Like Ginger, the essential oil is steam distilled from the plant’s rhizome. It is rich in the constituent sabinene, which not only contributes to Plai’s woody and peppery aroma, but is known to help reduce inflammation. A second big player in Plai’s chemical makeup is terpinen-4-ol, another great constituent that helps with uncomfortable inflammatory issues. You may have an idea about where this is going — Plai is an incredible choice for inflammatory conditions, such as discomfort from stiff joints or muscles. It’s also a great one to reach for when stomach troubles are bringing you down, particularly for menstrual cramps and gas.
Finally, Plai can be stimulating and energizing while also helping to bring balance to your emotions. It also helps support a healthy immune system during times of seasonal illness, so using Plai in the diffuser is a great way to help keep the air clean so you stay healthy! It’s even gentle enough to use around kids, pups, and pregnant or nursing mothers.
