Vitex
Vitex is steam distilled from the leaf and berry of the chaste tree, also known as Vitex agnus-castus. This essential oil is a great addition to your collection as it promotes balance, particularly in women’s issues. Vitex may help to maintain healthy feminine hormonal functions and stabilize emotions during stressful times.
This middle note is often used in massage oil blends for women due to its balancing qualities. Dilute Vitex to a maximum of 1% in a carrier, such as our Marvelous Massage Blend, to take in its harmonizing properties. It can also help with digestive issues. While not typically used within perfumery, Vitex can add interesting notes to a blend.
As mentioned before, this Oil of the Month is beneficial for women, but harmful to men. Due to possible adverse reactions in males, we do not recommend diffusing this oil. Some reactions may include headaches, dizziness, stomach upset, and rashes. It also has been historically used to blunt the libido in men.
