All About Juniper Berry CO2

For the month of May we are introducing a new spin on a classic oil! This sweet and coniferous Juniper Berry CO2 extract helps uplift the mind and body.

Our Juniper Berry CO2 is an Oil of the Month offering throughout the month of May. Check back with us soon to see if we have added it to our collection.

Juniper Berry CO2

Refreshingly sweet and coniferous, this Juniper Berry CO2 is extracted using a unique solvent-free method called Supercritical Fluid Extraction (SFE). This process preserves the natural profile identity of the raw botanical material (in this case, juniper berries!) by using ambient temperatures and reducing the chance for thermal degradation of the extracted molecules. The low temperature, paired with the lack of solvent evaporation, means SFE demands significantly lower energy than standard extraction technologies, helping to reduce the environmental impact and carbon footprint of this extract’s production. Plus, this method extracts the berries’ heaviest compounds, including fatty acids, that are not present in their steam-distilled counterpart. From an organoleptic point of view, this is the ideal process to experience the truest scent of the raw material.

Diffuse Juniper Berry CO2 to help clear the air and banish stale aromas. Its fresh, grounding aroma is a favorite for meditation practices thanks to its ability to simultaneously help calm the mind and uplift the spirit. When used topically, Juniper Berry CO2 can help naturally tone and rejuvenate skin, and aid in keeping skin clear of blemishes and irritation. Its warming properties may also help soothe sore muscles after a strenuous workout; simply dilute in your favorite carrier oil and massage into areas of concern to support muscle relaxation and comfort.

The extract obtained from the berries of Juniperus communis is thick and honey-like, making it very difficult to work with and nearly impossible to pour from a bottle. To make this into a workable product for diffusion, topical applications, and DIYs, the natural fragrance fixative ingredient triethyl citrate has been added. This gentle, biodegradable ingredient helps to thin out Juniper Berry CO2, making it mobile enough to use in a variety of ways. However, if you are having trouble getting this extract out of the bottle, gently warm the bottle in the palm of your hands to increase the extract’s mobility.
