Vanilla sugar lip scrub

Plant Therapy DIY Christmas Project Lip Scrub

The warm and inviting scent of vanilla combined with the exfoliating action of sugar is perfect in this lip treat. This fun DIY leaves your lips feeling soft and moisturized through the winter holidays. Make extra for friends, teachers or neighbors and stick them in all the stockings! I made this a small recipe so if you need more than 4, you’ll want to increase the ingredients accordingly.

Plant Therapy DIY Christmas Project Vanilla Sugar Lip Scrub

What you’ll need:

  • 1 tsp. Coconut Oil (solid)
  • 0.1 ounce Beeswax {this is approximately 1 tsp}
  • 0.2 ounces Cocoa Butter {this is approximately 1 tsp}
  • 3 tsp sugar
  • 3 drops Vanilla CO2 {it’s best for use on the skin, for more information about the vanilla(s) check out this blog post: Vibrant Vanilla!}
  • 4 lip balm tubes

What you’ll do:

  1. Add Beeswax, Cocoa Butter, and Coconut Oil to a double boiler (or glass bowl over simmer pan of water)
  2. Allow to melt
  3. Remove from heat and add sugar and Vanilla CO2
  4. Pour into lip balm tubes

*Here are a few hints I learned while doing this recipe! This is a great project to do with a friend, so they can hold your lip balm tubes. This recipe cools quickly, so once you’re ready to pour, move quickly and have your friend tap the lip balm tubes to settle the mixture as your pour. In one instance I didn’t move fast enough and had to remelt one tube, but it was an easy fix. Another tip is to have a tiny spatula handy to be certain each tubes gets some sugar in it – the sugar does settle, so pour & scoop!
