May Oil of the Month Reveal: Butterfly Lily Co-Extraction

Allow us to introduce you to the fascinatingly fresh and fundamentally floral Butterfly Lily Co-Extraction: your May Oil of the Month!

As the Monarch Butterflies passed during their yearly migration, we took our Butterfly Lily bottles to the roof of the warehouse and were able to coax those pretty pollinators into blessing each and every one. Okay, okay, it might not have happened exactly like that. But the Monarchs probably did bless the beautiful flowers used for this blend.

Butterfly Lily Co-Extraction

This month’s aromatic oil is created by extracting the Butterfly Lily blossom together with a fractionation of Cabreuva Wood. Butterfly Lillies grow four to six feet tall and produce fragrant flowers that look a lot like butterflies (hence the name). Its flowers are soft and white when they are young but become a pale yellow when ripe. Once they are ripe, farmers in small villages pick the delicate blossoms by hand. Cabreuva Nerolidol is extracted using low temperatures and molecular distillation from the tropical Cabreuva Wood (Myrocarpus fastigiatus) and has a sweet, woodsy, slightly floral scent. By extracting the precious oils from the flowers and wood together, we’ve created a uniquely multifaceted fragrance reminiscent of blooming lilies and lilacs with green, herbaceous top notes.

This co-extraction is particularly beneficial for promoting relaxation and deep sleep. For that, diffuse it at the end of the day to help you wind down using 2-3 drops in your diffuser. It blends particularly well with other calming, deep oils like Cedarwood, Sandalwood, and Vetiver. Or you can try diluting it to 2-3% in your favorite unscented lotion, cream, or massage oil. Naturally, Butterfly Lily’s fresh floral aroma makes it a fitting addition to room and linen sprays, as well as perfumery. Keep reading and you’ll find an easy DIY for a simple solid perfume. Also, we chose a solid perfume because it helps keep the aroma on your skin for a longer period of time. You can use Butterfly Lily on its own or create your own blend!
