The men in our lives need a little pampering too. Why not make a few things to stick in his stocking for Christmas morning? Mandi, from www.lifeyourway.net, joins us again with this fantastic combination gift for your special guy.
What you’ll need:
For Shaving Cream
- 1/3 cup shea butter
- 1/3 cup coconut oil
- 1/8 cup olive oil
- 30 drops essential oils of your choice {see below for recipe ideas}
For Aftershave
- 1-1/2 ounces distilled water**
- 1-1/2 ounces hydrosol
- 1 tsp Vegetable Glycerin
- 3-5 drops Vitamin E Oil {optional}
- 12 drops essential oils {see below for recipe ideas}
What you’ll do:
For Shaving Cream
- Melt butters & oils in sauce pan over low heat until melted {or use double boiler method}
- Remove from heat and add 30 drops essential oils of your choice
- Set aside to cool (cover to retain scent from the oils) – you can move onto the aftershave and come back to this
- Once completely hard, whip the mixture with a hand mixer until smooth and creamy
- Store in airtight container with lid
To use spread on skin & shave normally. Rinse well with warm water. Enjoy smooth, baby-soft skin!
For Aftershave
- Combine all ingredients in a 4 ounce spray bottle. Shake vigorously to combine.
**If you choose not to use a preservative you will need to store it in the fridge. Optiphen plus is a preservative which reduces the instance of bacterial growth in water-based products. We recommend that a preservative be used in any water-based products that you make at home. This is a great choice since it contains no parabens, no formaldehyde, and are not formaldehyde contributors.
To use spray directly onto your skin after shaving. Pat into skin.
Recipe ideas for products per ounce of product:
- Manly: 3 drops Cedarwood, 2 drops Frankincense, 3 drops Bergamot
- Outdoor Fresh: 3 drops Cedarwood, 2 drops Coriander, 2 drops Fir Needle
- Deep Peace: 1 drops Vetiver, 1 drops Patchouli, 3 drops Sandalwood
- Bright & Spicy: 7 drops Lemon, 1 drops Ginger, 1 drops Clove
- Mister Clean: 4 drops Bergamot, 2 drops Black Pepper, 2 drops Patchouli
