As the days grow shorter and the weather gets cooler, Tropical Passion Synergy can help keep your spirits lifted and your senses energized.
One sniff of this delightfully bold and fruity aroma can help boost a sunnier state of mind. If you find joy in the sweetness of baking, this scent is reminiscent of delicious fruited marzipan or almond pastry.
And, as a special treat for those who fell in love with Honeybell Synergy, Tropical Passion Synergy offers another option when you want to switch between scents. Where Honeybell is uplifting and calming, Tropical Passion is uplifting and energizing.
Tropical Passion Synergy brings you an aromatic symphony of essential oils. Mandarin Red, Orange Essence, Tangerine, and Buchu combine for a bright and fruity scent. Anise and Peru Balsam add a pop of spicy, sweetness, while Almond Bitter gives it the perfect amount of nuttiness.
Background
Like Honeybell, Tropical Passion offers the opportunity to experience some less common essential oils. This includes Orange Essence Essential Oil and Almond Bitter Essential Oil (rectified).
Please note this term “rectified.” This is very important to the safe use of this essential oil and we’ll discuss why. We’ve also brought back Buchu Essential Oil, which as served as a special addition to the Honeybell Synergy.
Orange Essence Essential Oil: Citrus Aurantium Dulcis
Orange Essence comes from the same fruit as Orange Sweet Essential Oil. But, rather than extraction from the rind, Orange Essence comes from the juice. And, as you might imagine, Orange Essence does deliver a much more “juicy” orange aroma.
In fact, Orange Essence Essential Oil is a by-product of producing orange juice. Toward the end of the process of creating orange juice concentrate, the volatile oil for Orange Essence floats atop where it is collected and distilled to extract it from the water of the juice source.
While Orange Essence Essential Oil comes from orange juice it doesn’t contain the same nutritional benefits of the fruit. Like all essential oils, it is purely the volatile oils extracted from the plant.
Given its chemistry, Orange Essence Essential Oil does have very similar benefits to Orange Sweet. Orange Essence Essential Oil can be used interchangeably, but with much more of a freshly intense scent for the senses. It is especially lovely for lifting the mood, calming the mind, and supporting digestive issues.
Bitter Almond (Rectified): Prunus Amygdalus Amara
Before we go any further, we need to discuss the safety of this particular form of Bitter Almond Essential oil. This form is rectified. Bitter Almond Essential Oil (unrectified) is considered highly toxic and unsafe for aromatherapy use, especially for home use.
Bitter Almond Rectified has no known cautions.
This version of Bitter Almond Essential Oil specifically undergoes an additional distillation step, called rectification. This process removes the Prussic Acid, which is the part of the oil that is unsafe. You may see rectified Bitter Almond Essential Oil listed as FFPA (Free from Prussic Acid).
Bitter Almond Essential Oil (Rectified) is distilled from the kernels (nuts) of the tree after first going through a lot of mashing and soaking in warm water. Bitter Almond is used in the food flavoring industry as almond essence or marzipan.
While not generally used in aromatherapy for home remedies, Bitter Almond Rectified does provide some relief for aches and stiff muscles.
Buchu Essential Oil: Borosma Betulina
We talked about Buchu when it was first introduced with the Honeybell Synergy as the May Oil of the Month. Once, again, this exquisite essential oil adds a special scent to this month’s Tropical Passion Synergy.
Like we discussed in the Honeybell Oil of the Month Blog, Buchu Essential OIl is distilled from the dried leaves of a small shrub native to South Africa. The Buchu plant is “primarily extracted into tinctures, oleoresins and other extracts for the pharmaceutical industry.”
Because only small amounts of Buchu are distilled into essential oil overall, it is not readily available for home use. Buchu Essential Oil is “prized in small amounts in the fragrance and flavoring industries for its strong, pleasing scent of blackcurrant,” or as a “penetrating, tart berry.”
Buchu can also be used to support a sense of stability and feelings of firmly grounded, especially in situations that are uncomfortable and unfamiliar.[
Buchu is best avoided in pregnancy and nursing.
Benefits
Tropical Passion smells amazing as a fragrance or room freshener, but it also boasts some amazing benefits for our inner being.
So often, we focus on the soothing concerns once they bother us physically. And, yet, so many of our physical symptoms begin with a less than optimal state of mind. When we can ease the source below the surface, we have the opportunity to enhance our overall wellbeing.
And, aromatherapy excels in supporting our psyche. According to Julia Lawless, “psychotherapeutic results can be obtained more easily and quickly through smell than through any other method.”

Like Honeybell, you can also enjoy Tropical Passion by adding it to your unscented personal care products at a 1% dilution. You may prefer Tropical Passion in the morning for an energizing start to your day.

As we mentioned before, Tropical Passion is perfect for adding to your favorite unscented body wash or lotion. Here are some quick ideas:
1. Tropical Passion Body Wash
What you will need:
- 18 drops Tropical Passion Synergy (or 9 drops per 1 oz carrier for 1% dilution)
- 2 oz unscented, natural body wash
What you will do:
- Add to a PET plastic squeeze bottle and shake hard to mix.
2. Tropical Passion Lotion
What you will need:
- 18 drops Tropical Passion Synergy (or 9 drops per 1 oz carrier for 1% dilution)
- 2 oz Olive Lotion – Unscented Base
