5 Ways to Use Jojoba Carrier Oil

A common staple in both all-natural and commercial skincare products, cosmetics, hair conditioners, homemade perfumes, and so much more, Jojoba Carrier Oil is an absolute must-have product. It is jam packed with powerful nutrients, including vitamin E, vitamin B complex, copper, zinc, iodine, and other nourishing antioxidants and fatty acids. Whether used alone or in combination with other carrier oils and essential oils, you will fall in love with how healthy, silky, and beautiful this golden liquid wax will make you feel – from head to toe!

Plus, Jojoba is fun to say! Say it with me — ho-ho-ba. In a world full of unintelligible ingredient names, it’s refreshing to come across one that is short, easy to say, and instantly recognizable.

Let’s take a look at our five favorite ways to use this amazing carrier oil.

1. The Primary Carrier Oil for All Your Favorite Essential Oils

The light, soft scent and silky texture of Jojoba Oil make it a fantastic carrier oil choice when diluting your favorite essential oils.

If you’re a DIY enthusiast, you may have noticed how often Jojoba Oil is called for in body care recipes – from lip glosses to massage oils and lucious body butters, Jojoba is sure to enhance any recipe.

2. A Simple, Effective Makeup Remover

If you feel hesitant about applying a product labeled as an “oil” to your face, you’re not alone. We usually think of oil as the enemy of our lovely faces, clogging pores and causing breakouts. However, Jojoba is not your typical oil. It is actually a liquid plant wax with characteristics that closely resemble the natural sebum (oil) produced by our own skin.

Jojoba is noncomedogenic (won’t clog pores) and works as a fantastic cleanser, especially for anyone with oily skin or those who are prone to blemishes . Try Jojoba Oil as an all natural alternative to chemical-laden makeup removers that may dry or irritate skin. It’s gentle and hypoallergenic properties make it ideal for removing cosmetics, bacteria, and excess oil, while leaving a healthy, satiny finish.

To make your own makeup removing pads, first place cotton rounds into a container and measure 4 tablespoons of Jojoba Oil. Pour the oil over the cotton rounds and allow them to sit and soak at least overnight.

To use, gently wipe over your face to remove makeup. If using this to also remove eye makeup, please do not add any essential oils in this mixture, as using essential oils near the eye in this manner is unsafe.

3. A Nourishing Body Moisturizer

We all want a moisturizer that provides deep and lasting hydration, but without leaving a heavy or greasy residue. Jojoba Oil, whether added to moisturizers you already have or used alone, is wonderful for all skin types.

If you’re ready to get serious about caring for your skin, Jojoba is exactly what you need. It absorbs quickly into the skin, boosts hydration, and helps rejuvenate skin cells. If your skin is dry, rough, or reddened, Jojoba helps provide relief for that, too! Known as an emollient, it soothes skin and unclogs hair follicles.

For a great bath experience that will leave you skin feeling incredibly soft, hydrated, and happy, it’s time to pull out the blender! Add one ounce of corn starch and ½ ounce of Jojoba Oil to the blender and give it a whiz for about 30 seconds. Store this blend into an airtight container and add to your bath! Too easy!

And if you would like to add some skin soothing essential oils in the blend as well, just add 9 drops to the Jojoba before putting it into the blender, and voila! You get to enjoy a relaxing bath while allowing your skin to absorb all the benefits Jojoba has to offer.

4. Strong, Healthy Hair

For many of us, our hair is important. It’s one of the first thing people notice about us, we spend hours upon hours messing with it, and if you love going to the salon, you likely easily spend hundreds of dollars a year on it. We can use our hair to define our style, express our culture, or enhance our favorite facial features. For these reasons, and so many more, we need to take care of it – and this goes beyond just using shampoo and conditioner.

Adding Jojoba Oil to your hair care routine will give you locks that are stronger, smoother, and more manageable. This is because Jojoba is known to exhibit condition effects, mitigate protein loss, protect the hair thread, and may prevent hair breakage. It also helps to moisturize a dry scalp, reduce dandruff, and support hair growth.

To reap these awesome benefits, Jojoba Oil can be applied directly to your hair. Just leave in for about 20 minutes, then shampoo, condition, and rinse.

5. Beautiful Nails and Cuticles

For strong nails and cuticles, Jojoba Oil is what you need. Its superior moisturizing properties provide your entire nail with not only vital nutrients, but also a protective barrier against elements that can cause your nail beds to become brittle, dry, or cracked.

To make a cuticle balm with Jojoba, melt 1 tbsp of Beeswax in a double boiler. Next, add 2 tbsp of Jojoba and stir. Allow to remelt if cooled slightly when Jojoba was added. Add ½ tsp of honey and stir to combine. Pour into tins or lip balm tubes and allow to cool completely before using on cuticles. Strong cuticles, healthy nails, and soft hands are within your grasp with the very effective and affordable Jojoba Oil.

An all-around wonderful carrier oil for your entire body, you’re going to wonder how you ever lived without Jojoba Oil!
